Gadreen Center for Addiction Treatment and Rehabilitation; Applies the International Addiction Treatment Standards and Protocols

Alaa Babiker

Supporting the national campaign of freeing Sudan from drug abuse by the end of 2023, The Citizen Credible Outlet is continuously making production interviews with very important and specialized Sudanese working in the field of addiction, and with the mission to spread more awareness about drugs and their abuse in Sudan, we visited one of the top rehabilitation centers in Khartoum, the only center that actually applies the international standards and protocols in treatment and rehabilitation of drugs addicts. That is Gadreen (We Can Do it) Center for Addiction Treatment and Rehabilitation, founded and managed by Counsellor Lubna Ali Mohammed Abdelrahman, the Consultant and Specialist in addiction treatment, who welcomed the delegation of The Citizen and was very opened to talk about the real issues affecting youth and leading to addiction in Sudan. The center has been opened for almost one year now and is witnessing great numbers of addicts, which represents a challenge to the administration as resources are getting consumed very quickly.
To know the tremendous work of Gadreen Center for Addiction Treatment and Rehabilitation, we need to know the person who is behind scenes, the Counsellor and Specialist Lubna Abdelrahman. She is a Sudanese Canadian activist for Women and Children Rights, who won 3 prizes for different projects, participated in 39 international conferences, and presented more than 340 workshops (empowering women and fighting addictions as well as bad habits). She is the Founder of many great initiatives and centers including:
1. Bitmakaly Women Association in BC Canada.
2. Bitmakaly National Organization in Sudan.
3. Founder of Biyt Al-Sudan Culture Center in BC Canada.
4. Founder of Network for Addiction Challenging.
5. Founder of Gadreen Center for Addiction Treatment and Rehabilitation.

We have made a very interesting and extremely productive interview with Counsellor and Specialist Lubna Abdelrahman that contains some of the addiction statistics in Khartoum and in Gadreen Center, in which she receives addicts in return of nothing at all, she is working under the slogan of “You Have You Give, You Don’t Have You Take” derived from the Great Sudanese Revolution, which represents the community solidarity that we need in order to save our generations from the devastating results of addiction.
We invite everyone to be part of the solution today, by volunteering and donating to support the work of Gadreen Center for Addiction Treatment and Rehabilitation. Gadreen Center gives counselling and treatment services for free, so the center needs our support as a community to continue rescue as many Sudanese youth as possible. You can also visit the center and donate everyday used materials by yourself. For more information’s, visit Gadreen Center Facebook page HERE, and you will be notified and instructed with how you can help today. More donation instructions are to be published soon at our website.
